Tryouts for U8 and older teams will begin on Saturday May 21, 2016.

Players are expected to attend two 90-minute training sessions per week and a game on Sunday. Commitment is expected for both the Fall and Spring seasons.

Once a player accepts a position on a Castleford team, that player is bound to that team for the WYSL seasonal year (defined as September 1st through August 1st).   In some instances, players may be moved to another Castleford team for the Spring season based on team needs.

WHAT IF A PLAYER DOES NOT RETURN TO PLAY FOR THE SPRING SEASON?

WHERE WILL PRACTICES BE HELD?

There will be two trainings per week, one in Armonk and one in Bedford for teams of combined players.

WHO COACHES THE KIDS?

A professional trainer is assigned by the Club’s Player Development Director to each team based on careful consideration of the team’s age, skill, and intensity, drawing from an experienced pool of highly qualified trainers.   The Professional Trainer leads the two training sessions and coaches the players at their game each week.

WILL PARENT COACHES BE INVOLVED?

The Castleford Management Team will determine people to assist with the logistical management of each team. Parents are crucial to helping run each team, but their role is administrative in nature.

WHY CAN’T MY CHILD JUST PLAY WITH HIS/HER HOMETOWN FRIENDS?

The Castleford Rovers joint venture is intended to make it easier for our children to play competitive soccer in or nearby their hometowns. In the absence of this initiative, many teams would fold or have rosters that would lead to forfeits or exhausted kids with too few kids on a team.  We appreciate the desire to maintain local Armonk or Bedford teams, along with the associated travel conveniences and benefits of playing with friends. The Castleford Management Team does its best to facilitate travel soccer with minimal inconvenience.
